Question:

Champions Trophy splitting world cricket?

Sri Lanka has already been named as an alternative venue, while England also recently entered hosting calculations.

For the tournament to be shifted from Pakistan, seven of the 10 ICC member nations need to vote in favour at tomorrow night's telephone hookup.

Reports yesterday said the highly political ICC board was evenly split, but the West Indies may back India's stance to keep the tournament in Pakistan.

If the trophy is held in Pakistan, there's no doubt that New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and England will not be overjoyed in participating. Instead refusing to attend they could face fines of $10million each for failing to support an ICC event.

West Indies claim they're okay with travelling to Pakistan if they must, but that's not what their players are saying.

ESPN Star is left nervous with the millions it hopes to recoup after signing a billion-dollar TV rights deal with the ICC could be at threat.

Big drama, what will be the verdict?

  1. it is a big drama.....i think that the majority should win...the majority of the countries dont want to play in pakistan so lets change the venue with out making a big fuss about it...

if something goes wrong every1 is going to blame the BCCI by saying that the ICC is always going to Go with the BCCIs decision...I think its only the BCCI and the PCB who want the tournament in pakistan...

so its best to make it majority wins...

i dont see much harm in moving the competion to sri lanka anyway....

  2. it should be held in pakistan or other asian country

  3. You mean BCCI  vs CA.(or ICC) ?

    I think BCCI will win.

The love-hate relationship that the International Cricket Council seems to be having with the IPL tournament is showing in various funny ways.

First it was the flip-flopping over the exclusive window for the IPL’s 6-week tournament. Then, the ICC made some really weird statements about the possible corruption risk in the IPL tournament. This is new situation for both the BCCI and the ICC.

It has always been true that all the money in cricket has been in India. Remember the sorry state of the world cup after India and Pakistan crashed out of the world cup? Indian advertisers have always brought in the big bucks, and the ICC realizes that very well.

But with the IPL, the BCCI has taken things to a new level. It’s now stepping on the ICC’s territory, with some players having to choose between the two.

Either way, the ICC’s options are rather limited at this point. All the ICC can do at this point is to smile nervously and pretend it is OK with this whole thing like a 12-year old whose cake was stolen by it’s 6-year old younger sibling.

  4. i think Indian batsmen have the best technique on seaming conditions so i would prefer Australia or South Africa !

    god bless!

  5. Heard ECB might send a second string of English team. Looks like ECB is only bothered about their big players, but not human beings in general.

Again, New Zealand bigwigs might pull out, not the team itself. So expect an attenuated New Zealand side.

South Africa has expressed their concerns about the condition in Pakistan, but I have not heard them confirm that they'll pull out.

Seems like Australia will be on board as well, minus some big names. Some players like Hayden, Hauritz, Watson etc. are ready to go.

In case of Boycotts, ESPN-Star will not be too bothered about losing England & New Zealand, but withdrawal of Australia and South Africa is another story. But they will have to be contented  with India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka.

  6. they should schedule it in Australia, their  batters are technically sound and they  have the best chance to win the trophy in Australia ~

  7. west indies should host it
