I need to know what my travel options are for a trip to and from Hotel ELYSEES MERMOZ ***

30 Rue Jean Mermoz

75008 8e

and Disneyland Paris. My husband is a paraplegic and uses a manual wheelchair, so standing or walking is out of the question. Does anyone know of an accessible bus or train route that will take us close to these locations w/o costing too much?

  1. For informatrion on wheelchair accessibility you will find this site very useful: http://www.infomobi.com/ (it is in French)

For you specific question consult this page which shows the accessibility (or lack thereof) of each station on the RER/Metro : http://www.infomobi.com/page5.php (Both the Charles de Gaulle - Etoile and the Marne-la-Vallée - Chessy stops appear to be accessible.

Please take heed however that page above warns that "the difference in level between the quays and the platform of the trains require, in the majority of the cases, that the person in the wheel chair be helped for the rise and the descent."

In general you will find that French standards for wheel chair accessiblity are considerbly lower than American ones.

Several organizations provide accessible van transportation upon advance reservation. This one is government supported:

GIHP (Groupement pour L’Insertion des Handicapes Physiques)

    Phone 1-55-33-56-56 or 1-45-23-85-50.

    Fax 1-45-23-16-11.

You may find it useful to reivew some of the information on this subject on the City of Paris tourist information site (in english) http://en.parisinfo.com/guide-paris/-tou...

  2. Not very close. You could try the RER or see if you can find a tour group to go with, check with the hotel staff.

  3. as far as i'm aware, most RER stations are wheelchair accessible...  To get to disneyland, you take the RER A from CDG Etoile in the direction of Marne La Vallee and it's the last stop.

If CDG Etoile isn't accessible by wheelchair, You might need to take a bus (all buses are accessible) to the next RER A station, at Chatelet, La Defense etc.

The RATP website doesnt actually tell you which stations are accessible which is a shame.
