Chan Peng Soon, Goh Liu Ying make it to Mixed Doubles pre quarter-finals – Denmark Open Update

Mixed Doubles partners Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying of Malaysia showed superb coordination and thrashed Dave Khodabux-Selena Piek to move into pre quarter-finals of Yonex Denmark Open on October 16, 2012.
This opening round match was played in local badminton complex of Odense, Denmark and it kept both teams head-to-head for 44 minutes before ending with final figures of 15-21, 21-17 and 21-15.
The victorious duo came back from a horrendous start and locked the honour by prevailing in the ending two games whereas the native shuttlers squandered a golden chance of straight-set win and crashed out of the tournament.
In the opening game, Dave and Selena played with great precision and raised their chances by claiming the very first match point on merit.
They relished full benefits of the home ground and crowd to oust the opponents and established an early lead with 5-1 margin.
The Dutch campaigners did not lose focus and strengthened their grip by registering a mountainous total of 11-5 before the mid-game break.
Though, Peng Soon and Liu Ying made every effort to narrow the gap in later part of the game but they could not avoid a 15-21 defeat.
However, they made amends in very next set by displaying their matchless badminton craft on the court.
The Malaysian players played intelligently in the beginning and stayed focused to keep the bird under their control.
This cautious approach resulted in a tight margin of 8-8 but Peng Soon-Liu Ying made the difference with a couple of productive rallies just before the announcement of break.
They started the beating after 11-8 and did not give the opposing couple even a single counter-attack opportunity.
They maintained the upper hand until game point situation and swept the table with 21-17 score.
There was more disappointment for the local crowd in the third set as the Dutch shuttlers failed to counter-balance the situation and knelt down in a disgraceful manner.
Meanwhile, Peng Soon and Liu Ying showed consistency in their performance and sealed a splendid win with 21-15 margin.
Now they will lock horns with the local team of Anders Kristiansen-Julie Houmann in second round of Denmark Open.
