Chan Sung Jung knocks out Mark Hominick in seven seconds – UFC 140 Recap
An upset win was scored by South Korean mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Chan Sung Jung at UFC 140 against Canadian MMA fighter Mark Hominick. UFC 140 was held on December 10, 2011 in Toronto, Canada. Their fight was for the featherweight
division which was featured on the main card of the event. Jung was impressive with his punches as he knocked out Hominick in seven seconds of the first round.
The 24-year-old Jung, nicknamed, The Korean Zombie proved his alias as he was right on target the moment the first round began. His opponent, the 29-year-old Hominick, nicknamed The Machine, did not have chance to defend himself.
Hominick, who made his MMA debut in June 2002 has a win/loss ratio of 20/10 in his MMA professional career. He has a higher level of exposure in his fights as compared to Jung.
Jung, on the other hand, made his MMA debut in June 2007 and has won twelve bouts in his professional MMA career with three losses. For Hominick, this defeat at UFC 140 was nothing but an embarrassing upset loss by the hands of
Jung. Hominick had the entire crowd at UFC 140 behind him which were chanting his name even before their bout began.
Hominick could have won the bout or at least would have taken the fight in the third round, but the South Korean was in the mood for an early finish.  Hominick has been on a losing run. This defeat by the hands of Jung was his
second consecutive loss. Hominick lost to Brazilian MMA fighter Jose Aldo at UFC 129. This was his chance to fight for the UFC Featherweight Championship. At UFC 140, what he experienced would haunt Hominick’s mind for days or weeks because Jung was right
on the target the moment the bout began.
When the first round began, Hominick went for a left hook shot but he was way off target. This was an opportunity which Jung capitalized. The moment the South Korean saw the opening, he started his attack. It was a straight right
hand which connected right on Hominick’s face. The punch was so hard that it immediately took down Hominick.
As he lost his balance and fell on the mat, Jung went on top of him and used the opportunity to his best advantage. Jung threw straight left and kept on with his attack. Hominick was saved by the referee when he stepped in and
stopped the bout. Jung won the bout in only seven seconds of the first round with a technical knockout (TKO).
