Chan Yan Kit ousts Tan Tony in second round of Indonesia International Challenge – Badminton news
Hong Kong’s most talented badminton player, Chan Yan Kit, maintained his rhythm in Men’s Singles second round and overpowered his local opponent, Tan Tony, at the Indonesia International Challenge 2013, on Wednesday, July 3, in Indonesia.
The lofty Chan Yan, who is the second seed in this tournament, did not show any sign of confusion while playing against his Indonesian rival who had a huge support of home fans. He played quite impressively and won the match in just 36 minutes.
Chan Yan showed a wonderful performance from the starting points and maintained his aggression throughout the contest. He easily finished off the job in straight sets with a commanding, 21-8 and 21-17 score on the board.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Tan was helpless against the attacking approach of his opponent and lost the first game easily. However, he showed a few glimpses of his skills in the following set but failed to escape a straight-set defeat from the hands
of Chan Yan.
The starting points of this second round contest were shocking for the local player as his opponent played flawless badminton. Chan Yan easily dictated the pace and set up an early lead on the board.
Mustering it further, Chan Yan make his Indonesian rival work hard to return every shot and stayed miles ahead until the end of opening half.
After the break, Tan changed his tactics to stop the aggression of his rival but he failed to place his shots in gaps. He found a few chances to earn points but he spoiled them by playing negative badminton.
Meanwhile, the in-form Chan Yan stayed consistent in his progress and he easily secured the starting game of this second round clash with an incredible margin of 21-8.
In the second game, Tan displayed his remarkable skills making it a tough contest for Chan Yan. He played attacking badminton and stayed close to his challenger until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Chan Yan started to keep the bird low by executing flat and parallel shots that stopped the progress of Tan. He continued playing with same tactics and won the second game as well with a reasonable score of 21-17.
