Chan Yan Kit trounces Eric Pang to grab Men’s Singles title at Swedish International Stockholm
Hong Kong’s Chan Yan Kit has found a much needed breakthrough in the opening month of current year as he has grabbed Men’s Singles title at the 2012 Swedish International Stockholm on Sunday, January 22, in Stockholm, Sweden.
In the final showdown, the fourth seeded Yan Kit proved too strong for Eric Pang of Netherland and won the battle in straight games by working hard for just 31 minutes in the court.
Yan Kit, who has been positioned at number 37 in Men’s Singles world placements, showed his elite skills by playing tremendous badminton and finished the match without losing even a single game.
On the other hand, Eric, who has been delivering impressive performance throughout the tournament, could not live up to expectations in the final match and lost it without winning any game.
The starting points of the match were interesting for the crowd as both shuttlers showed aggression and remained close until 6-6. At this stage, Eric played stunning badminton and scored five points in a row to reach at 11-6 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Yan Kit accelerated his speed and scored five consecutive points to reduce the lead. He remained positive and focused and managed to end his rival’s domination by reaching at 14-14.
At this stage, Eric tried to target the side lines of his rival’s court but failed to execute the strokes accurately. On the other hand, Yan Kit remained positive and won the first game with a convincing score of 21-17.
In the following set, it was again Eric who remained dominant in the opening part of the game. He was in superb control of rallies and managed a remarkable lead of 11-6 until the break.
After the 60-second interval, Yan Kit changed his game plan and started to play at net which helped him to dominate the rallies and he levelled the score by reaching at 12-12.
In the concluding phase, Eric took a reasonable lead by reaching at 19-17 but failed to score the ending points. Yan Kit played to his full speed at this stage and managed to score four points in a row to take the game with a difference of 21-17.
Yan Kit emerged as victorious of this Men’s Singles final contest in 31 minutes with a margin of 21-17 and 21-19.
