The King's Cup will be commencing today from the 25th of November with Chan Yih-shin attacking the $300,000 event with full force. It is basically held to celebrate the birthday of the King of Thailand.
According to news from Thailand, the golfer's hopes are soaring and he is aiming to bag the trophy this time.
The thirty three year old played an amazing scuffle with Nick Redfern and Simon Yates last year that has shown the golfing world what exactly this Taiwanese professional golfer is all about.
The 2002 turned professional will be competing with Thaworn Wiratchant who bagged the Asian Tour a total of 12 times and Angelo Que Whi who has collected the Asian Tour 3 times. Other than the Thai and Pilipino legends, the Taichung resident will also be competing against a mob that includes Peter Karmis and Lam Chih Bing. Karmis collected the Asian Tour title this year in the month of September while Bing, from Singapore, attracted some serious attention with a driving distance of 292.9 ranking 52nd.
Yih-shin's past record suggests he is quite a consistent performer. The thirty three year old has been able to end up in the top tens a total of three times and is currently on the 19th position on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
The venue of the showdown has great memories attached to Yih-shin as he won his first Asian Tour title here. Yih-shin said that since his first win, his confidence has multiplied without bounds and that has always helped him perform amazingly. The Taiwanese stated that since there were a number of highly competitive players appearing at the King's cup, the tournament will definitely be a tough one.
About the golf course, the thirty three year old stated that it is a very thorny course. What the golfers need at such a golf course is favorable direction of the wind and some good luck. He said that the wind will be attacking the golfers from various directions and will cause much trouble.
Regarding his approach at the King's Cup, the professional golfer said that he would be focusing on playing golf in his own style. Meanwhile, Chawalit Plaphol, a local golfer, is also aiming hard for the top position. Plaphol plans to give it his utmost for the Kings honor and has bagged the Asian Tour championship 2 times.
In 2004, Plaphol collected more than one million dollars in prize money and now he wants to cover up for his losses over the past 2 years or so.
