Chance of getting pregnant off of the depo shot??

Question

the depo is suppose to be the strongest birth control .that stops the release of eggs ..thru numbers 1-10 what is the chances of getting pregnant off of it when using condoms??and do some people have their monthly for a while when on it..eggs dont really release during this time do they? im just wondering :)

No birth control method is 100% but I know of 3 different girls who got pregnant will on the shot.  Even if you use a condom, it can break.  You can ovulate at any point and yes you can get pregnant whie on your period.  on a scale of 1-10 your chances are probably 1 out of 10 to getting pregnant while on depo (1 out of 10 girls could get pregnant on it).

Nothing is 100% except not to have s*x.

I have know women to actually get pregnant when on the shot.

I have a sister in law that got pregnant using both a condom and the pill. They swore the condom didn't break.

The thing about condoms that most people don't think about is it can have a pinhole size- not visable with the naked eye that s***n can get thru.

People assume just because they don't see the *** outside the condom that it didn't get thru. I wish they would realize how microscopic s***n actually is.

So to answer your question it is possible, but the odds are less. It really depends on if the good Lord wants you to have a baby.

Well it worked really really well for me, It stopped my periods totally and It actually took me 3 years to conceive AFTER I came off the needle.

I got pregnant while on Depo but if you are using condoms as well, I wouldn't be worried. Yes, it is a possibility but it is highly unlikely.

You mean, what is the chance of getting pregnant while ON the depo shot. Not "off" of the shot, because that implies you are actually getting pregnant from the shot itself OR that you are asking the chance of getting pregnant if you aren't on the shot.

Anyhow, if you are on the shot as well as using condoms, I would say the chances are very, VERY slim - but never impossible.

The depo is 99% effective against prenancy. This means that 1 in 100 women will get pregnant whilst on it.

Without protection 80 to 90 women in 100 wil lget pregnant.

The combined pill and progesteron only pill are also 99% effective.

Condoms are actually a lot lower at something like 80% effective- which was a bit of a shock to me, not that I use them but some rely soley on them.

If you are using both the depo and condoms, the chances are pretty d**n slim, but there is still a risk. I can't give you a percentage though.

Also, it differs on whether you ahve a monthly period. Mine stopped completely after a few weeks i only had a small amount of spotting and then nothing :)

But there are some nasty side effects to the depo. Not only do you put on a lot of weight (in 3 months I put on a stone - though granted I needed to, but still! Lol) and some women get really painful headaches. Also my s*x drives is zero (not amusing!) and it's made me really depressed. But every women is different on it. I asked about it a couple of weeks ago and I hear of stories how relationships had broken up over the mood swings and no s*x drive it gave them.

Anyways - point - there is a very slim chance, but like everything still as risk. If you're having s*x the best protection is being on the pill/inhection/etc AND using condoms for those just in case moments.
