Chances of Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League – Part 4

With such a great defensive line up, Inter Milan barely have to worry about conceding goals; having such great, talented names in the defensive wall of the Italian champions and a great goalkeeper also included in the squad, they definitely have the world’s best defence along with the English Premier League teams Chelsea and Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho was a great tactician and he knew the class and experience of the Argentinean defender Javier Zanetti. During the UEFA Champions League, Zanetti also featured along with Esteban Cambiasso in the centre of the pitch, as a holding midfielder. When Zanetti was on the pitch playing the role of a holding midfielder, Cristian Chivu was the one who took the left back position while Thiago Mota was benched.
Thiago Mota is a great player who performs for the Italian champions at the centre midfield position. A great box to box who falls back whenever the team needs his defensive duties and he moves forward whenever the Italian giants need him up front to build the pressure on the oppositions.
Esteban Cambiasso is the one who plays for the Italian side as a permanent defensive midfielder. The Argentinean is definitely one of the best holding midfielders in the world at the moment and with the help of his experience he can easily overpower any striker in the world.
Cambiasso is not only good at defending; he is also good when it comes to playing through balls and moving the ball around. The Argentinean midfielder can play some amazing long balls towards the strikers and with speedy players up front, they can easily fetch onto the ball that he plays and the team can score goals with his aid.
Moreover, Cambiasso is a great long ranged goal scorer. His shooting ability is simply extraordinary. He often moves forward to help the team score goals and this happens when he takes chances from wide out. You would usually see the Argentinean taking a pass and trying a shot on goal so that the team can lead the game with his help.
Esteban Cambiasso, despite being such a key player for Inter Milan, was not taken by the Argentinean coach Diego Armando Maradonna and he did not become a part of the first team of the FIFA World Cup 2010. However, later after Maradonna was sacked by the Argentinean Football Association, the new coach for Argentina called Cambiasso up for his team and he was included in the squad that played against the World Champions Spain.
Argentina won the match 4-1 and it was clearly seen that Cambiasso and Javier Zanetti were the two key players missing out from the Argentinean team throughout the FIFA World Cup 2010 and had they been included in the squad, the team could perform much better than it actually did during the tournament in South Africa.
With two midfielders, Inter Milan used to play one attacking midfielder. The player who used to take the attacking role is currently one of the best attacking midfielders in the world and he is the Dutch star Wesley Sneijder. He was simply outstanding throughout the last season and even during the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Wesley Sneijder’s talent was seen by the “special one” Jose Mourinho and after he was signed by the Italian club, he became a threat to all the oppositions. He performed extraordinary well for Inter Milan last year and helped the team reach the final of the UEFA Champions League and eventually won the European title with his club. Sneijder showed the world what he was worth and gave a sign to his former club Real Madrid that letting him go was the worst decision that they made.
