Chances of Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League – Part 8
With the Argentinean striker in such great form, it was obvious that the final match totally belonged to the Italian side Inter Milan. However, the German Champions came out on top against the English team Manchester United which were headed by the legendary
Sir Alex Ferguson. It was obvious that defeating such a team in the UEFA Champions League wasn’t easy and the German Champions were there to win it as well.
With Milito in such great form, Mourinho used to play Goran Pandev as a left winger. However, with Pandev sometimes out because of his injury problems, the Brazilian kid Phillipe Coutinho was often played on the left wing. The Italian side had replacements
for all the players and Coutinho or Pandev used to perfectly fill the left flank and they used to help Milito score goals and added a few to their names as well.
The final was all set, the German Champions and the Italian Champions were ready to face each other at the Spanish ground Santiago Bernabeu. The match was simply a thriller because the ground that the final was being played on, belonged to the Spanish side
Real Madrid who have won the European title for the highest number of times.
The match was a thriller for the audience because there were two players who were well familiar of this ground and this was because they were a part of Real Madrid last year. Both these players were facing each other that night. The first one, Arjen Robben;
the former Chelsea man joined Real Madrid but was then forced out of the Spanish team and later joined the German side Bayern Munich and helped them reach the final of the UEFA Champions League. The second was the other Dutch star Wesley Sneijder. He was also
a part of Real Madrid and was later forced out of the Spanish side because they did not have “enough space” to play him in the team.
With both these players out of the team and new young talented players in the squad of Real Madrid, the Spanish side did not qualify for the final but they both helped their teams reach the final stages of the European Cup and win European glory.
Even though both the teams tried hard to win it for themselves, the Italian side were simply too strong for the Germans to beat and it was Diego Milito again, who actually scored against the German Champions. It was simply official that he was the best striker
during the UEFA Champions League, not only because he scored a lot of goals, but because he scored them against the English Champions, the Spanish Champions and the German Champions as well. This was proved later on when he was awarded the best striker during
the UEFA awards.
Currently, Inter Milan are the defending champions but Jose Mourinho is gone. He is now a part of the Spanish side Real Madrid and they are dominating the Spanish League at the moment. Rafael Benitez is the new coach at Inter Milan and no one can forget
how he helped Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League in 2005 and also took them to the final stage of the European title in 2007.
Rafael Benitez is a specialist when it comes to “cup games.” He is a great two legged coach and knows who to play at what time. The Spanish coach is definitely going to try and do wonders with such an extraordinary team. However, Diego Milito is not in the
same form that he was in last year but Samuel Eto’o has picked up his goal scoring form recently and the Italian giants are trying their best to retain their European title.
