Question:

Chances of getting into boston univeristy/college, syracuse, northeastern, binghamton, nyu, cornell??

i have a 97% avg

took ap english, got a 3

took ap chem, got a 4

sats: 550reading, 780math, 580 writing

satIIs - chem, 740, math1- 690

extracuriculars:

science olympiad club, won 4th place in chem and 8th for experimental design for regionals

key club- freshman/soph year. Soph year, i was committee leader

worked in history office for lunch soph year

volunteered for over 200hours during past summers

plan to take bc calc this coming year (senior year)

based on this info, what are my chances of getting into those schools? Also, my counselor said that most schools don't look at writing sat. Do any of the schools i listed above look at writing?

  1. You will almost certainly get into one of them if you apply to them all.  Ives like Cornell and known difficult schools like NYU are a reach for anyone.  But schools like Binghamton are not too bad with grades and test score like yours.  BU is pretty close to a dead cert with your stats.

    You really need to contact the schools to find out if they look at the writing SAT.  It is unwise to base decisions on what most schools do - the schools you are interested in may be the exception.  Only one way to find out - contact them.

  2. Looks like you have a good chance on getting into BU, Syracuse, NU, and Binghamton. You may be on the fence with BC and NYU. I would say improve your SAT score if you're most interested in Cornell.
