Both my boyfriend and i are identical twins. We've talked about having children in the furture. What are the chances that we will have twins? There are a couple sets of identical twins in my family

  1. twins are NOT GENETIC, im a twin too, and everyone says that it must run i nthe family cause i have a few twin cousins, but it's not, so srry, but just cause u two r twins, wont have any effect on ur children. but it's actually pretty likely to have twins, and i'm sure that the doctors have come up with something so u can have identical babies. also, u should probubly b married before u two have children, but idk, that's just my opinion. BEST OF LUCK FELLOW TWINS!!!!

  2. The same chance as anyone else would have- identical twins are not genetic, it is entirely random.

  3. There is no twin gene and twins don't actually "run" in families. There is a possibility that ovulation traits or genes can be passed on increasing the likelihood of producing multiple eggs, but since you are an identical I wouldn't be too worried. identical twins are the rarest of all and there is noway to know if an egg will split when fertilized.

"Meanwhile, the likelihood of having identical twins (when one fertilized egg divides in half) is about one in 250. This rate hasn't changed over the decades and is remarkably constant all over the world."
