Chandigarh To Promote Cycle Tourism

India is on the move once again. This time it is the cycle tourism that they are promoting. Chandigarh is all ready to arrange its first cycling event called 'BSA Hercules India Cyclothon Chandigarh 2010' the officials announced, on Tuesday.

The event is to take place on the 27th of June and the preparations are being done with all zeal and zest. The authorities as well as the residents are equally enthusiastic as they look up at the event.

'Chandigarh residents are health conscious, full of spirit and we are expecting a huge response from them,' told Ram Niwas, the Chandigarh home-c*m-tourism secretary while making the announcement.

The management seems very confident, as they proclaim that all the international standards will be followed for managing the event. Niwas added that all proper essentials and accessories will be provided for the Cyclothon such as helmets, cycling bags and latest cycles on rent to all participants.

He also informed that arrangements are being made to provide aid stations consisting of all medical facilities that might be required during the race. Moreover, water booths and mechanics would be supplied at reasonable distances on the track in order to attend the cyclists and their cycles all around the track.

As Niwas puts it, the Cyclothon welcomes all enthusiasts to actively take part in the event. He excitedly added that students, housewives and corporate executives are all welcome. A lot of festivity and jubilation is expected, he said, as is witnessed in any of the biggest international sports event. He whole heartedly invited the film as well as television stars to participate in the event.

As per the details unwrapped so far, the Cyclothon has been divided into three categories. The first one would consist of the national elite that consist of men only, covering a total distance of 60 km. One hundred and twenty cyclists are expected to participate in this race.

The second category is mainly for the business houses, corporate institutes and organizations called the corporate ride. This would be a non-competitive race, where both men and women could participate. A total distance of 25 km would be covered engulfing over a thousand participants.

The third and the most exciting category is a dream fun ride for anyone fourteen years and above. Over three thousand people could take part in this covering 15 km. This one is also a non-competitive category.

The beautiful city of Chandigarh is one of the most cycle-friendly cities in the country. Almost all its roads have special cycle tracks along the sides.

It is the capital of Indian state, Punjab that takes its name for having five rivers in its territory. Chandigarh is the best-planned city in India, with its world famous architecture and a great quality of life that it offers its residents. Besides Punjab, it is also the capital of Haryana.

The face of modern India, Chandigarh, offers an amalgam of serenity and bustle, a city that is as modern as any other in the country yet it is a living epitome of the Sub-Continent civilization. So are its people and its events. It offers events ranging from folk theatres to dance parties and from music galas to great sporting events like this one. Such qualities make it an excellent tourist destiny.

This city enjoys all the four seasons completely with a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables as well. At this part of the year the city has a warm weather, the sun at times blazes during the day time but towards evening weather turns to be more pleasant. Amidst the heat of the sun, the radiant event is about to unwrap. So all the Cycle race fans, it is time to hurry for Chandigarh,  registration will be taking place at the commercial hub of Chandigarh, starting from June 11.
