For a 20" cruiser that currently has only one hand brake plus the backpedal brake. Can it be changed to 2 handbrakes so the pedals spin backwards freely? How much would it likely cost?

  1. Converting a cruiser with a coaster brake to a freewheeling hub would not easily work. You would have to replace the rear coaster hub with a free wheel hub. Your bike has a narrow axle spacing in back and most all free wheel hubs are wider. A hand brake on back could be easy IF you have the brake mount on the seat stays. But this is not likely on your bike. Without going into more detail if you could do it, the conversion would take more time and money then it's worth. I'd be cheaper and better to buy another bike.

  2. On the left side of the rear wheel there is a piece that you need to take off. But you have to weld on a Bracket for the brakes. Overall it would be A LOT easier to just buy a new bike. If you need any more info just email me.
