Change batteries on 1998 Leap Frog Twist &...

Question

I have a Leap Frog Twist and Shout Multiplication which is marked copyright in 1998. I cannot change the batteries. I have taken the left end of the device off, but come to a dead end before accessing batteries. There are two white buttons on the right end of the device (one approximately 1 " below the right corner of the screen and one approximately 1" above the right corner of the screen) but I cannot get these to release any part which will give me access to the batteries. Apparently the device was intended to have batteries changed since there are instructions as to battery type printed on the device.
