Question:

Change in comfort while wearing contact lenses?

Hi there everyone.

I've been wearing contact lenses for about 3 years. The first two years that I wore them, there were no problems. They're monthly ones, so I left them in at night and rarely changed them. Usually I would remember a week or so after the end of the 30 days that I forgot to change them and just pop in another pair.

Within the past year, however, this hasn't been the case. The contacts cause irritation to my eyes after a few hours, even if I use a lubricant, it takes several tries to put them in because usually the first 4-5 tries they hurt too much and I have to take them out, and nevermind sleeping with them. After a few months of these problems I develloped a serious eye infection that kept coming back. There's been no sign of it for a while now.

Does anyone know why the contacts would suddenly start hurting? They're the same brand I've always had. I go to the doctor in August to have my yearly eye examination, but I would like some ideas as to what's going on.

  1. personally, i think its cuz u slept with ur contacts in for 2 years. sleeping with ur contacts in is really bad for ur eyes, and eye doctors recomend not to, unless they are the day and night kind. good luck and i hope this helps =]
