  1. It's possible that global warming will cause certain parts of the world to get cooler, even though the world as a whole would get warmer.  The particular mechanism in the movie would cause a cooling effect in the North Atlantic region.  It's unlikely that will be sufficient to counteract the overall warming, even in that area.

Most likely, even if it does happen, the North Atlantic region would still get warmer, just not as fast as elsewhere.  (Of course, who'd want to see a movie about a region that got warmer, just not as fast as elsewhere?  "In a world... where things are getting warmer... one region... stands alone... by getting warmer at a slower rate!  Coming this summer!")

  2. There will be another ice age, but many factors (mostly external to human beings) will bring it around.  Ocean currents have been known to change (El Nino, for instance) without causing complete extermination of life as we know it.

Day After Tomorrow was a 90 minute commercial for Al Gore's "An Inconvienent Truth."  They even shared film clips.  My favorite part was when the helicopter's fuel lines froze, in like, 2 seconds.  The best part was them slipping in the temperature the fuel would freeze at--something like -90.  Of course, they failed to take into account how cold it would have to be to make something at ambient temperature freeze instantly--close to absolute zero.

  3. That movie is NOT possible.
