Change of attitude, what happened?

my boss has never been nice to me at all.. figured it was the business sense of attitude. But out of nowhere.. he started joking around with me, he would talk to me about personal things, or even just play around with me. My coworker saw the way he was acting and even asked me what happened with she was gone that we got closer..and I'm like if I knew I would say something. I don't even know what to say about it..because I have no idea what the change of attitude was towards me. He also got jealous when he saw how close my manager and I were( he's one of my friends).. which is odd it never affected him before. I have no clue what happened!!.. any suggestions
