This is actually a question my sister has. She's wondering if its possible to put a zoom lens on a point-and-shoot camera. We figured it wasn't possible, but I figured i'd double check just in case someone has heard of a way.

  1. In order to actually change the lenses you'll need to get an SLR.

However, as the above poster said, you can get adapters to add on to your existing lens. Usually these reduce the quality of the image but if you really desperately need to get twice as close it's your best option.

  2. the vast majority of point-and-shoot cameras will not allow lenses to be used.

some however, such as a few cannons, have some grooves around the lens which can fit an adapter, which you can then place a lens on top of.  look for this s***w-on type ridges around the ridge of your camera lens.
