  1. all change ups involve taking your power finger (pointer finger) off of the ball and putting it on the side of the ball.

I'm not sure how lincecum, webb, or beckett throw their changeups, but Pedro Martinez has established himself as having one of the best change ups in the major leagues. He throws a circle change except he widens his grip so that none of his fingers are close to the top of the ball. The grip feels strange at first but can be deadly if you practice it.

Tom Glavine also throws a great chagne (he throws a circle).

  2. just in general terms what you have to do is shove the ball in the back of your hand. some good change up pitchers just throw whats also called a palm-ball. it's not fancy grip but the ball is in the back of the hand. It can be hard to control for some and takes alot of practice but when it comes out of the hand it it takes longer to come out, it comes out with slower spin and therefore its about 10 mph slower give or take a few mph.  I think one of those guys you mention throw whats called a circle change where basically the ball is also tucked in the back of the hand but the first finger or point finger is in a circular motion touching the base of the thumb.
