Changed dentists, do i have the rights to my dental records from the old dentist? - UK?

my old dentist went private,

so i switched dentists to an NHS one.

i lost my retainer recently whilst on holiday,

so i need my dental records for my new dentist,

i contacted my old dentist, and she wont give them to me.

dont i have the right to my own dental records?

  1. Yes you do have a right to all your medical records. You need to go to your old dentist and request your records or have your new dentist do so. They are your records and you can do what you wish with them, the doctor can not refuse to release them to you, they just have to be sure that you are the person that the records are for and not someone trying to steal someone else's records.
