  1. the valve cover gasket is leaking at the spark plug tube seals ... easy fix. if it was the valve seals you would have blue smoke out the exhause and the tips wouldbe oil fouled. its only on the threads. buy a good valve cover gasket with the spark plug tube seals. problem resolved. 30 bucks.

  2. Depends what kind of car. If it's an older car it wont be the valve cover gaskets but valve seals. If its a newer car that has grommets in the valve cover, then that would be it.

  3. if the oil is just on the threads, then it is probably the valve pans leaking, but on the tip it means you either have bad valve seals or rings.

  4. Not valve seals - Valve Cover Gasket.  Easy to replace on most cars.  Each spark plug tube has its own separate O-ring type gasket between the valve cover and the cylinder head and when these start to leak the tubes fill with oil.

  5. so it is obvious that oils getting in the combustion chamber...

i would probably imagine its coming through past the piston rings or valve seals. but it could happen other ways.

oh, now that you said what you SHOULD have at first yeah my answer looks like c**p.

  6. Valve seals bad or worse. How many miles on car?
