Changin the last name of a one year old boy?

my sister inlaw has a son with a man she is no longer with and did not want to have his last name but her son does caught up in the moment of birth i guess he is 1 yr old in two weeks what does she need to do to get the last name changed to her last name any help is great thanks

  1. she doesnt have to change his name but she can if she wants to


  2. Here in Florida it cost $100. You fill out paper work and go before a judge. You can get the paperwork online. Or call the Clerk of the Court in your county. Good luck

  4. If you hire a lawyer they will do all of it for you. The father will have to sign over his rights and a lawyer usually knows how to get him to do that. Most of the time, just knowing he doesnt' have to pay back child support or future support will make him sign. It will then be brought up before the lawyer and he will usually do what the parent is requesting as a name change.

  5. just do it as normal, through deed poll. the sooner the better too, i had my dads name my whole life until i was 18 and changed it to my mothers maiden name, pain in the ***, i STILL have letters send to me in the old name!
