Changing Coaches?

So our distance coach (what i run) just announced that she will be leaving us for a collage team for all three season. I am soo scared that our new distance coach will suck. We were soo good with our last coach we ran at penn relays and where hopping to make it to nationals for the coming track season. We easily won our league and state titles. I know my success was greatly influenced by her. This coach will have never seen any of our runners before i am soo scared about what will happen. How can I make this transition? Please help me I want nothing more than to keep running at the level I am and improve so i can be on a good team in collage.

  1. i complete know what your going through! im a junior running xc and we had an amazing coach my freshman year. he coach the boys to a state title two years in a row and was just really motivating and great to run for. when he said he was retiring we all were pretty worried.

our new coach had absolutely no experience with xc or distance running. but it was amazing! somehow he figured it out and we made it to state! he really did a good job and is coming back this year, very welcomed!

when your new coach comes some things are going to change. you might have to fill him in on how you did some things and help him help you. your old couch wouldnt have left you with someone she didnt feel could help you all do your best. hope this was helpful and good luck!

  2. I know this must be a tough thing......losing the coach you really like and that is very good.  Just hope the new coach is someone you like and helps your team out as well as the last one.  If I were you I'd just make sure you can be the best runner you can be .........when not doing team oriented stuff (especially in the off-season) make sure to make the best of your runs and training.  Being able to push yourself when needed without having a coach to will usually pay off .........good luck, hope everything goes well!!
