Question:

Changing TGV date?

by  |  earlier

I will be taking the TGV from Biarritz to Paris in mid-July. I just found out that I will be leaving a few days after originally planned. My question is, how easy is it to change the dates for a one-way train ticket that I already reserved and paid for online? How do I go about it doing it? And will I be charged an additional fee for changing the date?

Thank you very much, 10 Points to best answer!

  1. It depends. You may be able to do it online or you may not be able to change your ticket at all. It depends on the fare you got, which is written on your ticket. Some fares do not allow you to change your reservation but most do.

Go to the home page of the www.voyages-scnf.com website and click on the "Train" tab. Then select " Gérer mes commandes" and enter your reference number and name. Then you click on "échanger".

If yours can be changed, you can do it online or at the station before the initial departure date without paying a fee. If you make a change last minute - the day of initial departure, then a fee will apply (I think it's 10 euros, but I'm not sure).

Here are the step by step instructions in French (I can't find it in English, so get help from a French speaker if necessary): http://www.voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/c...

  2. Just change the booking on the website you booked with in the first place.  For example, If you booked the ticket online with SNCF you would have received a booking number and instructions on how to check your reservation or make online changes.  If it was with a company like RailEurope, just email and request a change of date. You might have a fee to pay with RailEurope.

Otherwise, just go to any French train station and try to change the booking.  Shouldn't be a problem.
