  1. You should figure that out yourself based on what your banking needs are.

  2. I am a huge fan of a local credit union....They do direct deposit, have friendly customer service and they always know your name when you come in or call...They are often just as quick with deposits and update their account info. twice a day too! They have some of the lowest interest rates and getting a credit card from them allows you some more freedoms with payments and VERY low int. rates...like 8%...Yet they are just as secure as a large name bank, and they run int. and loan specials much more often...I have used my credit union for over 15 years and have another that is accoc. with my job too! They are a wise choice!

  3. I like smaller banks.  They are more likely to build a relationship with you. They learn your name and don't treat you like just another number.

  4. Well I can recommend a great online bank, if that is something you'd be interested in. It's called ING Direct.

With online based bank the following things are different than a bank with branches:

    1. No branches- all deposit must be made through mail or link it to an account that has a branch. Withdrawls you get from mostly a ATM. OR transfer money to your linked account.

    2. You will receive no checks. You can however right "electronic" checks which you can transfer money to people accounts electronically similar to a wire transfer. ( no charge for this)

ING has a checking account called electric orange. I think currently I am earning 3% interest. So you mainly you do everything online, however there is a customer service department you can actually speak with a human on. I love my bank, I have yet to have any problems and the online banking is wonderful, and so easy to naviagate around. Plus your making decent interest on it!

One last thing I forgot to mention earlier is that they offer a mastercard DEBIT card and all withdrawls made from ATMS are free. (not from the other banks ATM, but ING does not charge)

Go to the website and read more about it, it has an answer to all you questions! Hope this helped :)
