  1. I guess you learn something new everyday. You know I had no idea that MMA schools even had belt levels. I guess that is a good idea though and I hope it can evolve even more. Like MMA for self defense and not just for cage fighting. I know many things can be applied to defending yourself, but still it would be nice to pull all the best elements of self defense into one art. Good luck on your training.

  2. no offense frank the tank or whatever...but one of the first and best has always used a belt system...pat militech.

a rank system is just designed to show you where you are. like mile markers on the interstate. if you're a blue belt, you've already passed white, yellow..etc. but haven't gotten to purple or brown yet.

it varies from school to school. some require you to be a certain rank for a certain amount of time before you can test. some just wait until you're ready.

  3. MMA is a sport, and it doesn't have a belt system.

Either you are in a school that's a fraud, or they just created a belt system themselves for it.

  4. Depends on the school. It also depends on you, how much you study and how you apply yourself.

I can get you a black belt tonight, but it won't mean anything unless you earn it.
