  1. no i don't think that it will be hard but you will need your medical card to change ur dr. hope this helps

  2. By law you have the right to change your doctor if you wish. You should inquire at the surgery you wish to move to.

  3. some areas have large waiting lists for a nhs doctor

    here is  what I found

    http://www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/pag...

    http://www.moreuk.com/doctors/dudley

Look about the first site, its NHS and will likely have any requirements

  4. When I changed doctor a few years ago first I found one that had 'vacancies' and they gave me an appointment to talk to the doctor there (the one who owned the practise).

I went to see him, he asked why I wanted to change (you don't have to give a reason but they do ask in case it's something that would be a problem there too) and asked why I'd chosen that practise (a friend recommended it).

After that they do everything (assuming they agree!) - they contacted my old practise, did whatever was necessary then I got a letter saying I had been transferred to my new chosen practise.

This was in England. I suppose it could be different elsewhere in the UK, but as you're in England too it should work the same.

I don't have an NHS card, don't even know what one looks like! If we all get one at birth, then my parents lost mine. I wasn't asked for one either.

  5. Changing your GP in the UK is a simple process. You will need to take your NHS card to the new surgery and ask them if you can register. If they have room on their books, and most of them do, they will hand you a form to complete (it's only name, address, etc). Hand this back to the receptionist and she may ask you to make an appointment for a check up as many GPs like to get a rough assessment of new patients. If you can't find your NHS card don't worry, it will just take a little longer for the new card to come through. That's it. You don't have to inform your current GP, ikt's all very simple.
