Question:

Changing from cipramil (celxa) to lexapro (cipralax)! help.?

has anyone changed from one to the other and found it worked! also because these 2 drugs are very similar is there a transition period? does the lexapro work straight away or those it take the 6 weeks or so to see the full benifit, even do prevously being on cipramil, is it like startin a new ssri even do they are very similar. any info would be great. thanks.

  1. You should have no problems switching over. The 2 drugs are very similar indeed and there should be little or no transition period. Lexapro (escitalopram) is a slightly purified version of Cipramil (citalopram) - just refined to contain left handed isomers only for the technical minded. A cynic might suggest it was only introduced as the patent for citalopram recently expired!

I changed from cipramil (celxa) to lexapro (cipralax) some years back the cipramil made me worse ive been on cipralex for 10 years I'm on 15 ml tablets was on 20ml but got fed up with the sweating as with any change of tablet you never get a quick result it takes a bit of time depending on your mental state
