I'm changing insurance brokers and they've asked for my policy # with the other firm. What do they do with the number? Do they check it or keep it as a reference?

  1. they don't need the number. there is no retro coverage so they are just being nosy. ask them to quote without it or send them the dec page with that info whited out

  2. If you've never had insurance, just tell them that. They may not be able to offer you coverage if you haven't had previous insurance, but someone will be able to help you. Call a Nationwide agent for your condo insurance.

  3. They want to make sure that you have had continuous coverage.  I guess you're talking about auto insurance.  I own an agency and I require the declaration page from the clients previous policy.  It's common practice, don't worry about it.

  4. They check it to see if you made any claims against it, your payment history, etc. to assess your risk.
