Question:

Changing my U.S. Passport?

I got my current passport when I had just turned 16 (I'm 21 now) and was over 60 pounds heavier than I am now. I keep having problems with people not believing that's me in the picture and because I don't have a driver's licence I need my passport for ID almost everywhere. The problem is it still doesn't expire for another 5 years. Anybody know what the procedure is for re-applying for a passport just so that I can use a new picture. I'm willing to pay for a new one I just don't know if changing a passport just because of a picture is allowed. Anybody know?

  1. I don't know if this is really a profound enough reason, but it might be.  I do know that people get new passports is they have been to Israel and then want to go to an arab country later, or travel to Taiwan and make a later trip to mainland China.

If you lose a passport, the procedure is very simple -- basically the same as getting the first one, you need new photos and they will ask if you have the number of the old passport.  And they do ask that you send the old one in if you find it later.  I just mention this in case you lose the one with the photo you don't like.

  2. Fill out the paperwork and take it to the post office.  They will be able to give you the correct answer.  I suspect that you can get a new passport.  If you are 21 why not show your drivers license along with your passport to prove it is you instead of getting a new one?
