Changing my last name again?

Okay, it took a several months before I changed my last name when I got married. My husband had no problem with any of my decision I had made.

So, I decided to make my last name hyphenated. I use my maiden name for career purposes, but my legal last name was both the maiden and married name combined.

Now after a couple of years, my split last name has caused a lot of confusion and sometimes makes it impossible for computer data entry software programs.

I’ve been thinking about change my last name again. I am considering having my maiden name as my middle name for career purposes and use my married name as my legal last name.

It seems like a long process between the doctor offices, bank, utilities, landlord, Social Security and Department of Motor Vehicles, etc. I am wondering if it would be worth it.

It didn’t cost me anything to change my last name when I married because I had my marriage license with me. Will it cost me money to change my last name again because I’m not getting a divorce?

  2. Yes, but only the cost the court charges for filing a change of name suit. Shouldnt be too much.

  3. If it is something you really want to do, and its worth the hassle then do it.  But to me its not worth the hassle.  Yes it will cost a minimal amount to change your name.  I would leave it alone.
