  1. It would be weird at first, but he'll get used to it.  Just make sure he can see where the food and water are.  If possible, let him look at the cage for a bit before moving him into it.  My cockatiel lived in a kind of small cage while he was in quarantine because a) we couldn't move the big cage into my brother's room, and b) it had to be disinfected first because my other cockatiel who used to live in it died.  But when he moved into my room, he also moved into the big cage, and he was certainly weirded out for a while and even had a little difficulty climbing on the bigger bars, but he loves it now.

  2. Bigger the better! I just got my parrots a new cage a few months ago! Newer and Bigger is always better! Go for it! !

  3. Bigger is always better. Sure he may need a little while to get used to a new cage, but unlike bringing a new bird into your home, he is already familiar with the environment and the people: it's just the cage that's changed. When you buy it, set it up in the same room as his old cage so he can get used to seeing it. Have him on your hand and walk up to the new cage; let him inspect it, talk to him like you're a real estate agent discussing the advantages of this new "house". Giving him a chance to get a good look at it before you put him in it, and seeing that you are calm and even positive about this situation, will definitely help him with the change. Even hold the door open and let him explore the inside (if he wants to) before you officially move him into it; maybe put some treats in the food dish so he gets a good feeling about the place. And once you do move him into it, feel free to give him praise on his lovely new house, and house-warming treats, to help him settle in. :) Someone else said to put as much of his old accessories in the new cage as possible, and that is an excellent idea; the more familiar objects he has around the easier it will be to adjust.

  4. If you have any toys or removable parts from the old one, put it in the new one, that way there is familiar things even in an unfamiliar environment.  But like the others have said, in this case the BIGGER the BETTER!
