I bought this mini card reader that takes info from a memory card that is used for a cell phone( it holds pictures video etc...) However i think my usb port is inefficient. My computer says its too much info to take in and that i need to upgrade the usb port to 2.0? How do i do that?

  1. you buy a  usb 2.0  pci  expansion card and plug that in to the  computer

  2. You will have to get a USB 2.0 PCI card.

Here's a bunch of them starting with lowest price:

  3. Get a PCI card that expands how many slots you have on your computer.  I did this for my computer.

    Here are two such products.

Note the difference on the connection to the motherboard.  The second device's PCI connector is much shorter (it's not just a PCI card, it's a PCI express card).  Depending on what kind of slot is open on your motherboard, you should get that kind.

USB 2.0 performs much faster than USB 1.1, and for some devices it is required.

  4. you can try either an add on card with 2.0 ports or upgrade your motherboard...

  5. If the USB port is part of your PC tower, then get a new tower. If it's a PCI card, then get a new PCI card.
