  1. To change your group's name, click Management.  Under Group Settings, click Description and Appearance. Click "Edit" to the right of "Web Address".  Change just the group name -don't put anything else in the field.  Click the blank square in front of "Notify members of group address change".  Click Save Changes.

When you change the group name, if members have bookmarked the group under the old name, their bookmarks will no longer work. This is my suggestion to help with the transition:

Before you change the group's name, be sure to send a Special Notice announcing the upcoming name change to members. Even if you select to notify members of group address change, they might not receive notification.  So after the name change, you really should posts another Special Notice to the group and make the message subject line something like "Green Pickle Soup group is now Purple Pickle Soup group" and add the new link to the the text part of your Special Notice. Members will receive it and will be able to find group easily.

Members who are "Web Only" and receive no messages from the group will not be alerted to name change.  You could send them a private email to let them know.  Otherwise, you will lose them.

I really can't suggest new names for your group since I don't know the age range of your members or average topics discussed.  I do think having "Star" in the name will distinguish it from similarly named groups. Good luck in whatever you decide!
