Question:

Changing the desktop background on a MacBook?

I just purchased (today) an Apple MacBook. Earlier, I was able to change the desktop background. After staring at the new wallpaper, I've decided that I would like to change it. However, when I do the <Desktop> <Change Desktop Background> thing that I did earlier, it doesn't work. I tried to do the System Preferences --> Desktop/Screensaver, but that didn't take me anywhere (the screen stayed empty).

  1. Not sure what you're saying.

you can right+click (or ctrl+click) the desktop and choose Change Desktop Background...

    or

You can go to Apple Menu>System Preferences...>Desktop & Screensaver

    or

You can right+click (or ctrl+click) any image in your web browser and choose Set as Desktop Background

Or is that what you're doing and you say it doesn't work? Have you installed a bunch of screensavers or moved folders around that you shouldn't have been touching perhaps?

  2. Both ways you described take you to the same place. Once on the system preferences>desktop/screensaver, make sure you have desktop selected. You should have a list of folders on the left side of the open window. Choose a folder and you should get a set of wallpapers from that folder. Once you click on it, it changes. If you want to choose one from your photos, click on "pictures folder" and search for your photo.
