Question:

Changing the guitar strings on my Epi Firebird ?

I got an Epi Firebird about a month ago and right out of the box it was amazing. The finish was flawless, the pickups sound good, the intonation was set good, and it had D'addario strings on it. It has Stienberger's Direct Drive Locking Gearless Tuners and I can't seem to figure out how to change the strings! My fingers sweat so much while I play that I rusted the D'addario's so I really need to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Take a look here:

    http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guita...

It's the product page at Stew-Mac, in case it doesn't come through ok.  This instruction deals mainly with installing the tuners on a guitar, but the bottom portion of it does show how to change strings as well.

    Hope this helps

  2. does the tuner have a nut at the back side that you turn to release the string from the peg? try wiping down your strings after you play for increased string life. I just looked it up on the internet the locking nut is round and its at the top of the peg, take a firm grip on the nut and turn it counter clockwise, this should release the string.
