They have made an absolute mess of it. I've lived in other countries and have not watched anything as appalling as this. An excellent example is their coverage of the men's basketball finals, a really close game and they cut to the news in the final quarter after which the 8 mins of what must have been a real exciting finish is reduced to 2 minutes of pretty much nothing.

They obviously do not realise this is a world event and we don't need to be bombarded with replays of the aussie's medal winning moments. A very poor decision to show multiple live events at once, in the end the viewer is left with bit and peices to contend with. Take a cue from SBS, who relied more on quality and not quantity.....o yeah my question,...is channel 7 covering the london 2012 olympics? (please say no..)?

  1. no..... (thank god) ch9 has the rights for the 2012 games!

i think we need a coverage similar to the last commenwealth games, on pay tv, were the user pays ex amount of dollars for 4 dedicated channels with a viewers choice option, this way the viewer can choose what they watch when they watch it!

  2. Bits and pieces, you sum it up.

Channel 9 will cover the London games which I suppose due to huge time difference Channel 7 is afraid of not attracting enough viewers in Australia to make a profit. Well, what a money-making broadcaster, kind of summing up its Beijing Olympic coverage.

  3. it was indeed appalling the way they broadcasted this olympics. How can they possibly go to commercials during live matches, or even show replays from past events instead of live images.

And yes, Channel 9 have the job for 2012, and i couldnt be any happier that its gonna be them.

  4. I totally agree with you. Excuse me there are other countries on planet earth! Australia is not the only one!

Thank God channel seven is not broadcasting the London Olympics. Maybe channel 9 will do a better job

  5. I'm led to believe Channel 9 & Foxtel have 2012.

    But don't quote me, please.

Compared to Channel 7's effort the Cartoon Network could do better.

  6. yep

  7. I agree totally. SBS was so much better, i just wish that they had some of the better games like the basketball final.

Why did they have to show that g*y guy who won the diving about 10 times today. Was there no more competition, or did everyone go home??? lol

  8. your absolutely correct. I'm not sure whether 7 is doing 2012 but i hope not. i was watching the basketball. a close game. they go to news and show replays of australia winning a medal. they replay the same event at least 5 or 6 times.

    **** channel 7.

they can suck my balls. sbs was mad. at least they tell you whats on at what time. 7 you don't even know what to expect. channel 7 doesnt realise that australia isn't the world. so channel 7.

    **** YOU!!

  9. You are right channel 7 has no clue about the olympic broadcasting. it's very one-sided. but so is internet yahoo 7 . they don't know how to count to 10. The medal table shows # 1,2,3,4 and 6. what about "5" or are we just jelouse to lose this spot to the germans?

    cheers , paul

  11. What a joke the channel 7 coverage has been. Let me just give you some examples 1.when driving home from my game of local basketball I thought I would listen to the olympics on the radio, the 100 hurdles heats for women was on with Sally Mclellan, she managed to qualify for the final what a great effort. Once home I showered then sat down to watch the olympics and guess what channel 7 said was coming up next, yep 100 hurdles. 2. When the Aussies men played the USA in the 1/4 final of the basketball channel 7 never showed the first 1/4 and and we also missed 1/2 of the second, they showed the finish of the softball which was fair enough but we missed the start of the bball, to see whole game after the softball would have been good. 3. And today the final USA v Spain in the bball very close exciting game and we miss the end what a shame, channel 7 went to the news and for the first 6 minutes or so they show highlights of the olympics WTF. Thank god they are not doing 2012
