Chantilly Tiffany can sparkle for Gosden and Buick
The rewards may not be as great but all winners count. A week ago John Gosden and William Buick got their new partnership off to a flying start when Dar Re Mi won the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan.
An all-weather meeting at Kempton Park is not quite the same but they may well win the 32Red Casino Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes with Chantilly Tiffany. This will be the mare’s first run for Gosden and one has to delve back more than a year to find her last win, in a Group Three race when she was being trained in Germany.
However, she put up a very good run in this race three years ago, when beaten two-and-a-quarter lengths by the classy Heaven Sent, and Gosden has his horses in fine form as evidenced by a 35% strike-rate with his runners through February and March.
Gosden will probably fancy the chances of Clairvoyance in the 32Red.com Fillies´ Conditions Stakes. The filly won over course and distance last month but may be outclassed by Clarietta. She was beaten four-and-a-quarter lengths by Pollenator in the Group Two May Hill Stakes last September and was a similar distance behind Oaks favourite Timepiece at Newmarket the following month.
If trainer form is any sort of guide at this point in the season then it points to Azizi in the 32Red.com Conditions Stakes because William Haggas had two winners from three runners last week. But Classic Colori beat nine subsequent winners when winning on his debut at Windsor last July and, following a poor run on soft ground at Newbury towards the end of last year, won a Listed race on the Polytrack at Lingfield seven days ago.
The 32Red.com Handicap brings together the usual collection of horses in the grip of the handicapper but Brave Echo looks like he may still have a few pounds of improvement in him after the way that he won at Lingfield two weeks ago.
