Pakistan Cricket Board is still indecisive about finalising the captain of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team for the upcoming mega event, as some players and officials are raising questions over
the behavior and attitude of current skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482.
It is reported that Afridi retained the captaincy for the one-day series in New Zealand just by a whisker. It was disclosed by media reports that there were serious discussions
within the board on retaining Afridi as captain after getting some negative views about his behavior and attitude after T20 series in New Zealand.
It was also revealed there is chaos going on within the board and in the team management on whether Afridi should be chosen as leader of the team in the World Cup or this responsibility
should be put on the shoulders of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 who has shown his best in his recent exposure not only as a an individual player but as a leader as well.
There are different notions about Afridi for losing favour with the establishment. One main reason was increasing complaints from fellow players, team and board officials that
he was very friendly with the media.
The second complaint reported was his bossy attitude which made some players uncomfortable and unhappy with his mind-set. Besides, his own performance in the team as a captain
and individual player also came under discussion.
Media reports also unveiled the fact that after one-day series in the UAE against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, team manager Intikhab Alam and Coach Waqar Younis had told the PCB chairman Ijaz
Butt that some players were not feeling comfortable playing under the captaincy of Afridi.
This was the main reason why the PCB chairman called him in for a meeting in Lahore recently during which he was told in clear cut words to change his behavior as well as to
lift his performance for maintaining his position as a captain.
Although, the national board has announced Afridi as captain for the ODIs in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, he still has not received confirmation to lead the national team in the World Cup while
the tournament will begin from the 19 February while the series in New Zealand ends on 5 February.
The media has reported that selectors were willing to name the World Cup squad this week but it was delayed only because of the captaincy issue. Now, the board is expected to
announce the World Cup squad on 19 January but captain for the World Cup might be decided after New Zealand series.
