Character, nerves and sheer talent shown by Pakistan (Part 2)
(Continuation of Part 1’s discussion on the surprise that the Pakistani team gave South Africa)
Keeping in mind, the recent circumstances the Pakistani cricket team has been through and not to forget, their hopeless and non-competitive international performances. Almost every cricket expert, senior player or cricket lover would have expected South
Africa to win
The way the match shaped up after South Africs put up a sizeable target of 286 and the first 20 overs of the Pakistani innings when they lost four wickets for less than 100 runs, one might have expected a South African win. Not to forget, that Test skipper
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 and controversial former skipper, Younis Khan, lost their wickets in the 15th over of the match.
Maybe http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 got over confident about the scenario at hand and must have taken a lesser attacking approach. Not to mention, that the Asian team hasn’t played or given any sort of competitive cricketing display to the African team, this match was simply
expected to be yet another easy Proteas win.
Pakistan’s team is known to be unpredictable in the international cricketing fraternity because at times they can play outstanding cricket, and at the same time they can play school level cricket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s unpredictability seem to have stumped the professional South African cricket team. As one might know, cricket’s international teams such as South Africa spend a lot of time in studying their opposition players. But the 2nd ODI performances
by Abdul Razzaq, skipper Shahid Afridi, and the young Fawad Alam couldn’t have been predicted by any system.
Not to forget, the responsible character shown by the skipper Shahid Afridi, as for once he was playing for the team, and above all in- accordance to the required situation. Responsibility and character are two vital attributes for any captain.
However, the Pakistani cricketing history has only seen a few captains with such calibre. The last capable skipper seen and produced by Pakistan’s modern age cricket is none other than the living legend of cricket, Imran Khan.
One might have witnessed a small number of Pakistani victories based on professionalism, nerves, patience, cricketing calibre and many more attributes, which every World class cricket team possess. But just like the political structure of Pakistan, which
is running on sheer luck and some exceptionally talented and educated individuals. Their national cricket team is running on the same phenomena, most of the Pakistani wins are based on sheer talent and individual performances and efforts.
The third ODI is scheduled to be played at the same venue of Abu Dhabi of the five match ODI series, which at present is levelled by the second ODI win by 1-1.For the South African professional cricket team they need to deploy extra hours is preparing the
3rd ODI plot for the Pakistani team, as they have the tendency of dazzling and stunning the World cricket arena on the natural talent some of the cricketers in the team possess. Namely Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi and the wrath of fast bowler Shoaib
Akhtar needs to be taken into account as on their given day they can single handily destroy the other opposition is their respective cricketing departments.
It would be interesting to see how the Pakistani national team will go about things in the 3rd ODI on 2nd of November, 2010. The 2nd ODI win must have surely given Pakistan the much required confidence that the team was lacking
and they need to engage themselves in playing sensible and planned cricket. If skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, leads from the front and sets an example for his young team, spectators can expect another exciting encounter.
