Characters on Mario Kart Wii - Please help!?

Question

On my account on Mario Kart Wii, i have unlocked quite a lot of things. But it says that i have to unlock just 2 more characters. But the thing is, when i have beeon playing on Wi-Fi, i have seen at least 4 more characters that i dont have.

1) So how come it says i have to unlock 2 more characters when ive seen at least 4 other ones?

2) Can you buy new characters?

PS - The characters that i have unlocked are : Birdo, Diddy Kong, Dry Bones, King Boo & my mii

Diddy Kong Complete retro 50cc Cups

Baby Daisy 1 Star in all 50cc Wii-Cups

Dry Bones Win 100cc Leaf Cup

Mii (Outfit A) Win 100cc Special Cup

Bowser Jr. 1 Star in all 100cc Retro-Cups

Daisy Win 150cc Special Cup

Dry Bowser 1 Star in all 150cc Wii-Cups

Rosalina Have a Super Mario Galaxy savefile and she will be unlocked after 50 races or get 1 star in all Mirror Mode Wii-Cups

Funky Kong Unlock 4 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials

Baby Luigi Unlock 8 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials

Birdo Play Time Trials on 16 different courses or win 250 Wi-Fi matches.

Toadette Play Time Trials on all 32 different courses or win 1000 Wi-Fi matches.

Mii (Outfit B) Unlock all 32 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials

According to what you've said you've unlocked... you still have a lot more to unlock. There are 24 total characters AND two Mii costumes to unlock, bringing the final roster count to 26. You can check out the link I've cited in the sources to see who you're missing.

And unfortunately, you cannot purchase new characters, they must be earned.
