  1. I use propane with ceramic pieces. I don't like the smell of charcoal burning nor the black smoke that goes everywhere.

  2. Charcoal of course.

More dependable, no guessing about the tank.

    Better flavor, more even heat.

Propane is not allowed in "real" BBQ Competitions.

  3. I have both

for a quick BBQ I use Propane and use the Charcoal when I'm doing a Weber roast.

  4. I have both.  When I tailgate, I use propane.  I see people using charcoal, and then dump the coals into the parking lot.  I can't do that.  What if a little child stepped on the coals?  I use the propane with lava rocks, and put the whole thing back into my truck out of harms way.

When I'm in a less public situation, I use charcoal.  The food tastes better.  And I can tend the coals until they're out.

  5. Propane is quicker...

but Charcoal tastes so much better!

Propane is less of a hassle...

but Charcoal tastes so much better!

    Propane provides more cook time...

Most propane owners also own a minivan...

but that doesn't have anything to do with this.

LOL   (Sorry I had to throw that in there)

Ultimately, it depends on what you like and how the other variables influence your decision!  I've used both and as you can tell always go for charcoal before propane.
