  1. Deep cycle batteries need to be recharged as soon as possible not left discharged until needed next time.

There is a very good test to see if your battery charger is working--take a volt meter when battery is charging and take a reading, it should be near 13 or so volts, if it is a lot lower you have a new paper weight.

Trickle chargers or Battery Maintainer are very good for charging and for keeping the charge of the battery when stored or not used for some time.

  2. all deep cycle batteries need to be charged at a lower rate than auto batteries. 2amp is the best this will preserve the discharge rate if u bring them up to 12v too fast they will have no long term sustenance and will dissipate their charge to 9v too fast and be unusable. just discharge them then put them on a trickle charge overnight. GOOD LUCK.

  3. This really sounds like there is a drain on your batteries. After charging the batteries completely disconnect all wires let battery set over night and test them. Are the batteries in your boat when they are being drained or do you take them out to charge them. If you set a battery on a concrete floor or a metal shelf they will drain. When charging a battery on the floor always place it on a rubber matt or a piece of wood.
