Chargeback or claim insurance?

Question

I bought a shirt from a dept store and washed it before using it. A button got ripped off during the wash. The dept store refused to exchange or refund. Should I ask for a chargeback through Amex, or make an insurance claim, again through Amex's buyer protection (or whatever it's called).

Sheesh, can't you just put the button back on with a needle & thread??

It's WAY less effort than doing either of the other two!
