I'm being offered Chargers DEF and Ryan Grant for Clinton Portis and Steve Smith or Torry Holt. To do or not to do?

  1. NO KEEP YOUR PLAYERS. Portis is a beast and will keep your team into the running in the playoffs. Steve Smith will also produce more than expected. Chargers D is alright but its a D for god sakes and Ryan Grant has proven himself for 1/2 a year. Keep Portis and the sure thing.

  2. I think the asker would be getting Portis and Smith/Holt while giving up Chargers and Grant.

It would depend on who else you have at defense or who you'd be able to pick up. If Merriman is out for the season San Deigo's defense will suffer tremendously. Him taking away so much of the run and his rushing abilities allows Phillips to contribute more. Look at it this way, without Merriman, no one knows who Cromartie is.

Grant for Portis is risky. Portis is the more skilled player but when was the last time he was healthy all season? Getting Smith (who I would take over Holt) could be very helpful.

I'd only do this on three conditions:

    1. You trust Portis to be healthy.

    2. You really need a WR.

    3. You can find a defense to replace San Diego.

  3. I wouldn't do it personally. Once Steve Smith comes back from suspension he should put up his usual numbers. Portis is still a beast. Ryan Grant is decent but not worth it in the end. Good luck.

  4. No deal.  Chargers aren't worth enough to make up the difference in losing Portis and Holt/Smith.  Grant is good and may end up in top 5, but right now he is a downgrade from Portis.
