Question:

Charging Motorcycle Battery at 2 amps?

I just bought a 14LA2 by EverStart Motorcycle battery and on the instructions it says never to charge at a rate over 2 amps? Would it harm it if I charged it at 2 amps? It doesn't give a time frame to charge for 2 amps on the box. It says 1.5 amps charge at 2-6 hrs

  1. 2 amps will be fine.

Since that's a 10AH battery, 5 hours should bring it to full charge.

Follow the directions that came with the battery, letting it sit after filling is important.

  2. you can sefely charge it at 2 amps for up to 2 hrs for a quick charge.  i recommend a battery tender which you can leave plugged in all the time and it will automatically turn off.  Costs about $25

  3. I leave every bike in my shop on 2 amps  AKA trickle charger

It is really saying at least  that long to bring it to full charge any charger over $10 will shut off anyway

  4. Test it!  Give your battery to science!

All I know is I put my motorcycle on a charger.  It runs at .8 amps and makes the battery last longer, keeps it from sulphating and prevents lead whiskers which can short cells out. It's useable on glass mat batteries as well.
