Question:

Charging me to pee?

A gastation between Corpus Christi and San Antonio has a sign that says RESTROOMS ARE FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS ONLY. I went in, without money, peed, and walked out. I wasn't going to buy something just to use the bathroom. Can they really do this?

  1. Lots of places do that.  I'm not really sure how legal it is, but since it is their establishment, I'm sure it's their call.

  2. yep, they can. In some remote areas in China, they make you pay for going to the toilet and for using the toilet paper.

  3. No. They are just charging you for ignorance by not reading the sign.

  4. no..........if it was a pay toilet and it was broken, then you still peed for free........they just put the sign there to deter non paying customers.

in many states businesses MUST have restrooms if they serve the public....

    did you say thank you?

  5. It's their restroom.  Yes they can restrict you from using their restroom if you don't buy anything.

  6. I believe they can. UNLESS you're pregnant. When I was preggo I learned they had to let my use the restroom by law. I got to use the employee restroom because they didn't even have a public one. Laws may vary state to state tho.

  7. Yes they CAN do this.  Why should they have to pay for the water to flush, the electricity for  you to see where you are going,

and the wear and tear on equipment they paid for?  The least you could have done was to buy a soda or something.  You were being a jerk.  AND you were lucky they were there. Next time buy something.
