I want to help African poverty somehow but I don't know where to start but I came across this chairty called "Africa we Care" and it talks about what my money can do there...such as paying for meds, teachers salaries, putting children through school etc....how would I know if the charity isn't a scam or if the money will even go directly to the people??

  1. Try to find a program that is a christian resource and has a big organiazation i know there is one my church helps with. We raise money every years to help a boy in africa and his family. So just go out and look. We also recieve letters from him too.

  2. You can also try out the community http://www.orkut.co.in/Community.aspx?cm... which is about The United Nations' campaign to End Poverty by 2015. The campaign is supported by millions around the world. You can also check out its website www.endpoverty2015.org

  3. It's not on ECFA's list, although there are other African charities that are. That doesn't mean Africa We Care is a bad charity; we just don't know.

ECFA is an accreditation agency dedicated to helping Christian ministries earn the public’s trust through adherence to seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship. Founded in 1979, ECFA provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with established standards for financial accountability, fund-raising and board governance. Members include Christian ministries, denominations, churches, educational institutions and other tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations. Collectively, these organizations represent more than $18 billion in annual revenue.

ECFA’s Standards of Responsible Stewardship focus on board governance, financial transparency, integrity in fund-raising, and proper use of charity resources.
