Charity gifts?

It's my nan's birthday soon, and we thought it would be a good idea to get her something like the Oxfam Unwrapped gifts you can get, but for an animal charity or something like Save the Children

UK only please!

Thanks

  1. Every Christmas - at her request - I get my mum something from CAFOD - I've bought her everything from fresh water supplies in Africa to a goat for a family! They work on the principle of helping people become self-sufficient, which is great.

As far as a I know Save the Children doesn't have a similar scheme, but they do accept straight forward normal donations online: http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/51....

Another option would be to adopt an animal through a charity - loads of them do it from big charities to local zoos - I adopted a monkey for my cousin - and she has been to see him at London Zoo!

The WWF also does animal adoption schemes: http://www.wwf.org.uk/adoption/index.asp

I also sponsor a child in Africa through Plan UK - I send money every month and over the last 10 years have built up a friendship with the girl. We write to each other several times a year and she sends me pictures she has drawn and photos of her and her family. It's nice to know where my money is going (it goes to all of her community) and I know that my money has been spent providing fresh water, a roof over her head and an education for her: http://www.plan-uk.org/ It's more of a commitment, but, if your nan is up for it, it's a very rewarding way to help others.
